Baby news from Abdi Kasih: the chickens/ducks we were able to purchase after the floods thanks to your donations have had chicks! Sweet, isn't it?!

What special people they are: Nicole van Melle - de Rooij decided to celebrate her 60th birthday in grand style by organizing a Pasar Kecil for Abdi Kasih. On September 6, 2025, the day finally arrived: a beautiful, sunny day filled with singing, laughter, tears, dancing, and, of course, lots of eating. A whopping €1,200 was raised for our new school bus, which is absolutely fantastic, of course. We would like to sincerely thank Nicole and her lovely family for an unforgettable day, during which we hope many new people were able to get to know our wonderful foundation!

Students at the Arnhem-Nijmen University of Applied Sciences Suze Fisscher (nursing student), Sam van den Akker (nursing student), Indy Dinnesen (Pedagogy student), and Merel Broeksteeg (Nutrition and Dietetics student) are currently taking the Global Health minor and started their project at Abdi Kasih 5 weeks ago.

We would like to give an update on the progress of our research. As you read in our previous blog, over the past few weeks we have mainly been busy observing the teachers at Abdi Kasih (but also playing with the children, of course).

Abdi Kasih's school bus is in dire need of replacement, and we are doing everything we can to secure a new bus.

The stars of the Bernardusschool in Blaricum have raised almost 1,000 euros for our 'Project Schoolbus'! Thank you!

We would like to thank the amazing kids from Public Primary School de Bijvanck in Blaricum immensely for their efforts during the Christmas campaign for the BSM Foundation: they raised no less than 480 euros for our children in Indonesia! Wow!

A few days ago, we received an email from Medan overflowing with joy and gratitude. They have just gone through a heavy rainy season, and the building did not hold up well everywhere. Flooding, as well as numerous leaks with all the subsequent consequences, became a problem, making it necessary to renovate parts of the building and the grounds. This was made possible thanks to your help! We transferred €1,500 to Indonesia, and they immediately set to work on the renovation so that everyone stays dry and clean during the upcoming rainy season.

Maud, Eva, and Sanne have been part of the family at the Abdi Kasih orphanage for the past three months. And what a wonderful time they have had!

From musical afternoons to organizing their own activities, the girls thoroughly enjoyed the carefree energy of the children. It was chaotic, educational, but above all, incredibly loving.

"We are grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know them," said the girls. We, in turn, are immensely proud of their dedication and the warmth they have brought.

We would like to thank the Protestant Congregation of Blaricum for yet another very generous donation of €1,200, which brings us closer than ever to our new school bus.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Rene and Safiela Somer for their support of the BSM Foundation: they donated a wheel for the new school bus! They also support both Yayasan Abdi Kasih and Pantei Asuhan every month, and for that we—and they even more so—are incredibly grateful!

Hello, we are student nurses Lynn (21), Sophie (21), Charlotte (20) and Dieuwertje (20) and we are going to conduct an observational study for 4 weeks at the school for disabled children in Medan, Abdi Kasih. Last week we completed our first observation week. We met the director, the teachers and of course the children.

Janiek: "I felt it was high time for a revamped website, focusing on conveying our message as clearly and concisely as possible and making donating as accessible as possible. Of course, I also did my best to make it look a bit cheerful! I'm never truly finished, as I'm always looking for improvements! Do you think it turned out well? Feel free to let me know !"

This year, too, the children of OBS Bijvanck put their best foot forward and raised a wonderful amount for Stichting BSM! Thank you, dear kids!
